Their destination: Serpo in the Zeta Reticuli system. They were to spend 10 years there, learn about the alien race called Ebens, and share Earth’s own knowledge in return.

Training for the mission wasn’t a walk in the park. It involved intense physical drills and mentally grueling tasks like being buried underground for days. The selected team included scientists, linguists, doctors, and pilots, all prepped to handle whatever lay ahead.

Fast forward to the journey—they boarded an Eben craft and were hit with waves of nausea and disorientation due to the alien travel technology. They arrived at Serpo after almost 10 months, greeted by a landscape more intense than Earth’s deserts, with two suns blazing above.

Life on Serpo was a mix of fascination and challenge. The Ebens lived simply yet advanced, with strict schedules and communal living. The human team grappled with the alien environment, from the continuous daylight to the bland, nearly inedible food.

Their stay extended beyond the planned decade due to the 40-hour days on Serpo, totaling 13 Earth years. Only eight members of the team returned—the others met varied fates or chose to stay. Upon their return, the surviving members faced severe health issues due to high radiation exposure and took their secrets to the grave.

Colonel McKeever’s detailed 3,000-page report remains one of the most profound documents on human-alien interactions, though it’s yet to receive public acclaim. The Project Serpo story surfaced in a series of 2005 emails and has since fueled UFO lore.
